One of Riverbanks Zoo & Garden’s most popular exhibits by day transforms into Columbia’s newest unique venue for corporate and social events at night. Sea Lion Landing, one of the newest exhibits at Riverbanks, also makes for an incredible event venue for groups of 25 to 200. Where else in Columbia can you find such a memorable back drop for your special occasion?
Imagine your guests’ reactions to being able to dine and sip nose-to-nose with these fin-footed favorites in action! Upon entering the space your attendees will be greeted with passed hors d’oeuvres featuring regional produce and fresh ingredients. While they enjoy their favorite varietal or local brew they will experience close up encounters through a giant 35-foot-long panoramic window or they can sit and socialize while observing these charming animals from amphitheater seating inside or out. As they check out incredible sights both underwater and overhead they will be treated to a truly global menu with a focus on Southern specialties.
Unique venue for corporate and social events
Sea Lion Landing is truly the only one of its kind. The exhibit is an outstanding recreation of San Francisco’s famous Pier 39 and features five California sea lions and a harbor seal. This multi-level space offers your group spectacular views and varying vantage points of the Zoo’s newest group of marine mammals. The Wharf, the upper deck of the structure, allows your guests a broader look at the animals’ 250,000-gallon saltwater habitat while also providing the perfect area to set up a chef-attended action station like Shrimp and Grits or our Street Tacos and a plentiful bar.
The indoor facility is perfect for dinner for up to 50 or a cocktail party reception for up to 100. The whole Sea Lion Landing setting is ideal for receptions for up to 200 people. Have an even bigger guest list? No problem! A Sea Lion Landing venue rental can be expanded to include Entry Plaza and accommodate up to 400 people.
Sea Lion Landing has recently been featured on the cover of the new Experience Columbia SC Visitor’s Guide and in the spring issue of Fig magazine! This exceptional venue is available for private events one hour after the Zoo closes and, as with all of our facility rentals, includes tables, chairs, standard linens, background music, set up, clean up and an event manager making it the perfect location for your next event! In addition, a significant portion of your event’s proceeds support animal conservation, helping protect endangered animals and their habitats around the world.
